A book or two...
So lately I've been thinking I'm lacking when it comes to reading. I used to go through spurts where I couldn't get enough of a good book. My definition of a good book is one that makes me laugh out loud, possibly tear up and to sit there grinning at it's pages as I turn each one without being able to remove my eyes from them.

What's with giving kids guns???
So I found it quite disturbing in the news today to see two stories involving kids and guns. The first one I read was how a 16 year old babysitter was shot with a shotgun by a 4 year old boy because he got mad at her for stepping on his toe! How awful and how come a 4 year old understands how to work a shotgun and know's that this is a way of harming someone!!!! The toddler should know it's horrible and can cause someone their life and secondly the toddler should not know how to operate it. The other story I thought was horrible was that a Grandfather was shot in the butt by his grandson that he took hunting. Apparently the story goes... the grandson was loading the gun in the backseat of the car when it accidentally went off shooting the Grandpa in the butt. Give me a break!
Wrap Up
So I haven't talked about curling in a long time!!! So you're due! Tonight is my last game before the holidays and then I will enjoy two weeks off from the club. The Wednesday team I play on is still doing very nicely. We've lost one game, and won the rest. Thanks in part to the mad skills of Jeff and Sandra Faught and off course the sweeping powers of Dave Steele. I just kindda show up and provide the entertainment! I'm just kidding... I throw lead rocks!!! On Friday's it's a different story. One week I played the worst game of my life, something I wouldn't wish on anyone and then the week after played really well, it was like apples and oranges, no comparison. Friday's is a bit different though. I get to skip sometimes and we take turns playing the positions. The Friday night league is just a fun one and is a mix of more experienced curlers and newbies! It's a shorter game and much more social. I've had a good time so far this season but I'm worried about the beak. Sometimes (a lot of the time) I get back on the ice in January and can't make a shot to save my life. I don't have any more game and find it hard to read the ice, how heavy the shots are, etc... I'll get over it, so have a great, happy and safe break from the curling club for the holiday season and I'll see most of you in the nre year!
Tis the season!
Christmas is probably one of my favourite times of year. I love the holiday celebrations, I love the decorations, I love the cheer and I love giving gifts to people I care about. More than the Christmas presents under the tree I look forward to getting Christmas Cards. I love opening the envelop and being surprised by who sent me a card. Seeing who felt I was worth while to actually write a card out to, looking up my mailing address, putting a stamp on it and mailing it. In my apartment I have a little entrance way that opens up to the kitchen on one side and the living room on the other and you can't walk through the living room entrance-way without walking through an archway of cards. Every time my boyfriend, or I get a card I slip a piece of scotch tape in the middle and tape it up in the doorway. It's a nice reminder that people are thinking about you this time of year no matter where you are. I sent out my Christmas cards the other day and I hope they make it to my recipients on time! The ones I sent to Yellowknife may get there in the new year though!!!!
When it comes to decorating I love the Christmas Tree! "O Christmas Tree"! I like having the living room lit with just candles and having my tree lit. The days are so short the lights add a bit of glow to the room and an undeniable cheer. I guess I'm pretty cheesy but; you know, it's Christmas!!!!
This year I'll be spending Christmas here in the Valley before taking off the following weekend for my hometown! I'm pretty excited, I'll be taking my boyfriend with me. I'm looking forward to catching up with some old friends and reminiscing with family members.
With tomorrow being the last day of school for the kids it's official that Christmas is definatly here.
