My dog Max (WoW)

------ Yesterday, my first dog of ten years…was put to sleep. In case you didn’t know, her name was max… I got max shortly thereafter I graduated from college, and did so without the consent of my mother…the reason being, I knew she didn’t like dogs.

When I accepted the position here at STAR 96, I decided to leave max at home to make apartment hunting easier, when I found a place that allowed dogs, I would bring max up here to live with me.

But over time, my mother fell in love with maxi, just like me…and because of her being alone without a companion, I decided to give her mine.

A few months ago, max bit me…she had been suffering from an unknown pain and upon trying to diagnose that pain, I hurt her and she reacted by snapping at my thumb…just last week, while my mother cleaned up a food spill…max bit her arm. Shortly thereafter, and a few mind changes later…she decided to put max down.

I’m sad that max is no longer around, it upsets me that she had to put down…but instead of mourning her passing, I decided to celebrate her life. It’s a matter of perspective, and this is the scope I’ve decided to see it through.

Just last night, I talked with Natalie about how max and I used to play, and how I would get a kick outta making her bark…she was generally a very quiet dog. Max was great when it came to taking naps, or bedtime…always really cuddly and on a good night, would let you drape your arm all over her and just deal with me being a sap.

Maxie was a wonderful dog, friend and companion...but not a good traveler, quick story…

She filled my families lives with memories that will last forever… its just unfortunate that one of them had to be taking a dump in Natalie’s car. We were both pretty pissed at Maxie at the time, but last night…we laughed ourselves silly over it, another lesson in life… that we tend to make things out to be a lot worse than they are…when in reality, its just small stuff that we make out to be BIG stuff…. If it took having to have max take a crap in my car today, to have one more day with her tomorrow…id deal with it.

James.
