Not many of these left anymore and it would be a shame to lose it. So many memories of going when I was younger, don't think I watched the movies though. The Popcorn, hot dogs, the beer (must have snuck that in by mistake) Remember those fabulous speakers straight out of the Flintstones. Now the sound is through the radio. The all-nighter was the best, usually 4 movies including a horror. I think I will go this weekend in case its the last year.

2 good movies thos weekend, Identity Thief looks hillarious and Good Day to Die Hard, action fun. Nice cheap night out and a trip down memory lane. Might even watch the movie from the front seat.

It was the day of the kick-off for the first game in the Habs-Sens playoff series. Students were allowed to wear jerseys instead of their school uniforms – but only if they wore Montreal Canadiens’ jerseys.

Kila Penner, who attends Maple Grove Elementary School in Lachine, is not a Habs’ fan, and so she chose to wear her Sens’ jersey instead.

School authorities said that decision broke the rules.

Got a little income tax refund and decided to not only buy a new one but something a little different, and by different I mean not the cheapest one you can get which will fall apart after a year or 2.

I always get the $99 model and after spending hours putting it together it usually works pretty well for the first summer. It doesn’t smoke like a good Q and the heat isn’t evenly distributed but it does the job. By the second year I may need a new burner or like this one the heat shield crumbled, now the heat really doesn’t distribute. The push button lighter never worked and it was too small to cook much on.

So this time around it was go big or go home. I’d also contemplated going with a Smoker or a nice charcoal BBQ. My other half (better when it comes to cooking) put the kybosh on that. Deb really liked one we saw at a certain store that sells everything, it wasn’t a Weber or any of the big brand BBQ’s but it was a Reddish color, which she liked. I could say that is the only reason we bought it but it also had a side burner, 4 main burners and a thermometer on it. Oh yeah, the best part of all a bottle opener and it works really well, I de-virginized it and she christened it with a beer of course. Of course since I’m the man, I checked out the BTU’s and the total cooking space which sounded good

My favorite part of all is how easy it was to put together, simple to follow instructions (pictures) easy to find parts, all over the lawn. The screws, bolts, washers etc. were all packaged and marked so you knew exactly which ones to use. And other than putting on one piece the wrong way, easy mistake, it went together so quickly (a beer and a half) and I had no leftover parts.

My biggest concern was whether or not there would be enough propane left to cook super, there was and it smoked like a BBQ should. I have decided to also not be so cheap and have a back-up propane tank because a new Q is not much good without the gas.

Here’s to a summer of food on the Barbecue! I’m definitely doing some shrimp on the Barbie and I can use the handy opener to crack open a bottle of Fosters. Oy!

Every couple of months I join hundreds of dedicated citizens and donate blood, soon we might be able to take our pets with us. This could get very interesting having cats and dogs getting needles.

Here's why we may soon have Pet Blood Donor Clinics - Because pet owners are opting for more surgery to keep their pets alive the demand is rising for dog and cat blood donors.

The University of Wisconsin Veterinary Teaching Hospital has a list of nearly 2-dozen dogs and cats who give blood on a regular basis to help meet the need.

Vets say that a pet’s temperament is critical to their ability to be a blood donor, as they have to sit through the drawing. Dogs have to lie on their side for five minutes during the process.

As with human blood donations, there are some other criteria. Dogs have to be at least a year old and weigh a minimum of 55 pounds. The donating pets cannot be on any medication, but must be up to date on their vaccinations and flea and tick protection.

And, just like people, these pets deserve a cookie after donating.

The sore throat to start, a few aches, some coughing etc. Why, because when the seasons change, our immune systems can too, making us more vulnerable to colds and the flu. To avoid wasting the nice weather lying in bed, try some of these proven cold-proofing tricks.

1. Hydrate – lots of fluids (non-alcoholic)

2. Get Your Beauty Rest – lots of sleep

3. Wash Your Hands – as often as possible

4. Stop Stressing – stress is never good

5. Eat the Right Foods – citrus fruits, salmon, lots of veggies, spices like oregano and ginger, yogurt and whole grains. Thatway you can enjoy the burgers, steak and sausage come BBQ season.

6. Excercise – don’t skip, especially now. A good sweat is always good for you

7. Crank Up the Tunes – Viruses hate music, well not really just disco. But when you’re playing good music you feel good.

8. Speaking of feeling good. Get Busy in the bedroom, kitchen table, back seat of the car, wherever. Sex is good for your health.

9. And this brings us back to those sickies who won’t stay home. Avoid those who are already sick. If they invade your space. I use Lysol and spray lots... they will get the hint. Hopefully.

The Poop on the bird poop

Tis' the season, where everyone is at the car wash. Lining up to get the left-over salt, dust, mud, dirt etc off their vehicles. And of course the most annoying dirt of all, the one that falls from the sky. Thank you sea gulls, geese and other feathered friends for noticing that I just washed and waxed my car. They love to do that, they don't poop on a dirty car but then again I'm not one for using gas station bathrooms when I'm out traveling.

Most of us get a little annoyed at the new droppings but don’t rush out to spend another 8-10 bucks to re-wash it. Why, because the same thing would happen again. I will tell you it’s not a good idea to leave the droppings there for very long, especially if you want to keep your nice paint job.

If they are left to sit, they might leave ugly etching and almost permanent marks behind. Bird droppings are caustic and they can permanently damage the finish of a car. As the droppings might also contain grit, they can scratch the car’s finish, especially when you try to rub them off. Bird droppings can easily harden on a sunny day and they might cause more damage to your car’s exterior than coarse sandpaper.

Here are some tips on Removing Bird Droppings from Cars

Catch the droppings early: The best thing for removing bird droppings is to wipe and clean them away as soon as you see them. This is the right way to remove them as they will hardly leave any stains on your car. However, it is not always possible to do so and for hardened bird droppings, you certainly need more help than just wiping and cleaning with water. You can also use vinegar if you happen to catch the droppings early.

Wash with water: Wash the exterior of the car with water. As water is a universal solvent, it will help to soften the droppings. It is important to soften the droppings before you attempt to scrub and clean them.

Use a cleaning liquid: Cleaning liquids specially made for removing bird droppings are available in the market. You can make use of a cleaning liquid which is made up of natural ingredients rather than using the ones containing petroleum-based surfactants or those that are inorganic. Your aim should be to use a cleaning liquid which can remove the bird droppings without causing any damage to the car’s finish. You can also make use of fluids which contain orange, citrus oils, witch hazel, wintergreen or any other plant-based surfactants.

Application: Mix the fluid according to the directions indicated on the bottle. Pour some of the fluid onto the soft cloth and rub the cloth on the area of the bird dropping.

Removing the tough bird droppings: You can pour some of the fluid directly on to the area of the bird droppings. Leave the fluid for a few minutes so that it can react with the droppings. Then, take a clean cloth and gently try rubbing off the droppings. This will allow you to wipe off the droppings without having to spread it out on the entire car. For very tough and hard droppings, you can make use of non-scratch sponge.
