Vince Gill calls todays Country "Mind Numbing"

Vince Gill is not thrilled with the music he's hearing on country radio these days. He told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "For me, (country music) lost its traditional bent pretty severely. I would love to hear someone write a song like 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' rather than 'You're hot. I'm hot. We're in a truck.' It's just mind-numbing to me."

Vince does not follow that formula, and for that, he says, his music has largely been rejected. He said, "I still want to have hit records. You never get that out of your system. But in some sense, I have been shown the door."

Vince is also disheartened about the business side of the music industry these days, saying, "Income streams are dwindling. Record sales aren't what they used to be. The devaluation of music and what it's now deemed to be worth is laughable to me. My single costs 99 cents. That's what a (single) cost in 1960. On my phone, I can get an app for 99 cents that makes fart noises -- the same price as the thing I create and speak to the world with. Some would say the fart app is more important. It's an awkward time. Creative brains are being sorely mistreated."

Garth coming to Canada

Garth Brooks has added another show to his concert schedule.

He is slated to head to Canada in July to perform at the Calgary Stampede.

Garth will perform on July 12th as part of the 10-day music festival's 100th anniversary.

Garth told the Calgary Herald, "I was lucky enough to get to play Cheyenne on their 100th. When the invitation to play Calgary's 100th came in, I didn't think twice."

The Calgary Stampede runs from July 6 - 15.

The rest of the acts on the bill will be announced on May 24th.
Garth's next show at the Encore Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas is on April 20th.

Garth says he is considering touring again in two years when his youngest daughter graduates from high school.

Kelly Clarkson Debuts Country Single

Kelly Clarkson will release her first solo Country single. ‘Mr. Know It All’

The song was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard charts in 2011.

Kelly tweeted yesterday morning “Hey everybody, I got to work with Dann Huff and recut ‘Mr. Know It All’ for country radio!” “I hope y’all like it!! I had a lot of fun recutting the song and getting the opportunity to work with Dann!”

The single will be released to iTunes on April 3.

Kelly has country ties having recorded duets with Jason Aldean and Reba McEntire.

She’s also working with Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert on ‘The Voice’ and is rumored to be dating McEntire’s stepson.

The Dr. Seuss adaptation took in a whopping $70.7 million, giving it the biggest opening weekend of 2012, according to studio estimates from Hollywood.com.

According to Hollywoodlife.com, the surge for ‘The Lorax’ was fueled by the rumors of Zac Efron and Taylor Swift’s rumored romance.

The action film Act of Valor, starring real Navy SEALs, and featuring a soundtrack of country music including Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Sugarland dropped two spots to third, taking $13.7 million.

The strong debuts keep Hollywood ticket sales brisk. Revenues are up 19% over the same period last year, while attendance is up 22%, according to Hollywood.com.

New Carrie Underwood CD cover revealed

Carrie Underwood tweeted a link her website where the cover artwork for her upcoming fourth album and the title was revealed bit by bit during the day yesterday (3/5).

"A lot of the music I'm doing now is a little more edgy," Carrie told CountryWeekly.com. "We've filmed a video already," Carrie says, "and we had to go from the sweet look to a little more edgy look. I can see a lot more edge coming up, definitely."

‘BLOWN AWAY’ will be released on May 1^st. Fans can pre-order Blown Away now at Carrie’s official music store.

Dierks Bentley‘s 6^th studio album, Home, hits stores Today (2/7).

It's the follow up to Up on the Ridge. Dierks feels Home leads him in an entirely new direction.

"This record feels fresh," he says. "It doesn't feel like a continuation of any other project or series of recordings."

Dierks says that ‘Home’ album is the many chapters from being on the road to having a family that is like having a book in music.

He's already introduced his fans to the songs "Diamonds Make Babies" and "5-1-5-0" during his live shows.

Rascal Flatts member Jay DeMarcus and his wife, Allison, are expecting their second child this summer.

The new addition will join one-year-old Madeline Leigh.

Jay said, "This was definitely a huge surprise, but we're so thankful and excited that Maddie is going to have a brother or sister. We're really gonna have our hands full!"

Jay and Allison married in 2004 in Nashville.
