The mother of a Pembroke woman killed while cycling in Ottawa has made a proposal to the City of Pembroke to enhance fitness opportunities along the Kiwanis Trail, in memory of her daughter.
27 year old Krista Johnson was killed this summer while cycling on Bronson Avenue in Ottawa. She was an avid runner and cyclist and her mother Laurie Johnson made a presentation to council about installing muscle and strengthening equipment along the Kiwanis Trail to bring back to Pembroke what her daughter would have after graduating from University.
Johnson says moving forward with the proposal to install the muscle and resistance training equipment is what her daughter would have wanted to help improve the health of those living in the City....
City of Pembroke Councillors are reviewing he request. The Krista Johnson Memorial Fund would cover the total cost of purchasing the equipment for the trail.
